Mark Teixeira will end up as a Yankee, pending a physical. It is going to sting for a little while, but hopefully the holidays will numb the pain, until spring training. But hopefully by then we will be able to talk about a different player the Orioles are in pursuit of.
With a half an hour until Christmas Eve, I think I still have time to write to Santa telling him my wish list for the rest of the Orioles off-season:
1) Quality Pitcher
2) Quality Pitcher
3) Quality Pitcher
4) Quality Pitcher
5) Matt Wieters to be as good as suggested
6) Adam Jones improves consistently
7) Young minor league pitchers develope like suggested
8) Quality Pitcher
9) Quality Pitcher
10) Quality Pitcher
I think you get the idea of how to win in the MLB, pitching. Lets be realists here for one moment, would Teixeira have made the O's into a winning team in '09? No, no way, and it would have been a huge handicap to get any starting pitching.
We as fans are hurt, sure, trust me, but we need to look at this in a positive light because there hasn't been many bright times around here in the last 11 years. So here it is, we now can spend the $180 million it would have taken to sign Mark for decent-good pitchers to sit tight and eat innings until those young guns are ready. If thats not good enough, throw some of that money towards Markakis, Roberts, Wieters (if he deserves it, note: Evan Longoria) and PITCHING!!! You know it'll never end any other way but LETS GO O'S!!
